Datos fundamentales
• Las prohibiciones completas de la publicidad, la promoción y el patrocinio del tabaco reducen el consumo de tabaco.
• Sólo el 5% de la población mundial vive en países con prohibiciones completas.
• Las prohibiciones parciales de la publicidad no son eficaces.
• Las compañías tabacaleras utilizan métodos de publicidad indirectos para sortear las prohibiciones.
• El artículo 13 del CMCT establece que las partes deben hacer cumplir medidas que permitan una prohibición completa de publicidad, promoción y patrocinio directo e indirecto de productos del tabaco.
